From canines to cats to birds, fish, rodents, and more – people love their pets! And adoring pet owners are always looking for ways to increase their pets’ longevity. Aiming to ensure their furry, feathered, and scaly friends live long comfortable, and happy lives.
This stems in part from an ongoing push among the human population toward healthier living. A trend that’s resulted in a huge surge in demand for all-natural supplements.
Meanwhile, one supplement in particular – Chaga medicinal mushrooms – continue to gain a growing measure of public attention. Offering a stunning array of health and wellness benefits, Chaga has earned the title: “King of All Mushrooms!”
And as people see the benefits of supplements at work in the own bodies, many have begun to wonder: “Could supplements be good for pets, too?”
Of course, Chaga users – who’ve seen amazing improvements in their wellness – are also contemplating incorporating Chaga into their pets’ dietary routine.
As to whether Chaga can help improve your pet’s health and wellness, no current research makes a definitive case one way or the other. But there is plenty of support among enthusiastic pet owners praising the benefits Chaga mushrooms have bestowed on their creature companions.
But before we delve into this question further, let’s take a close look at Chaga and review some of its established benefits for human health and wellness.
What is Chaga?
Chaga mushrooms are a tree fungus that mostly grows on the bark of birch trees in cold weather climates. This includes locales like Alaska, Northern Canada, Northern Europe, parts of Northern Asia, and Siberia.
Wild Chaga growth on trees looks similar to slightly oversized burnt charcoal. A typical Chaga outcropping ranges from 10” to 15” in diameter. And while Chaga has a hardened, blackish exterior, its insides are soft and orangish in color.
Chaga has been a key ingredient in traditional medical and homeopathic practices in Northern Europe, Asia, and Russia for centuries. And while Chaga was mainly used to boost immunity, it has long been a perspective by homeopathic practitioners to address various conditions.
Chaga’s restorative powers are due largely to its extraordinary nutritional content. With an impressive variety of polysaccharides, beta-glucans, polyphenols, essential vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional compounds, Chaga’s profile includes:
- vitamin D
- B-complex vitamins
- potassium
- calcium
- iron
- zinc
- magnesium
- copper
- selenium
- rubidium
- cesium
- manganese
- organic acids
- fiber
In ancient traditional medicine practice, Chaga was typically ground into a fine powder and brewed into tea. But today, Chaga is also available in raw chunks, freeze-dried extract powder, extract (in tincture form), capsules, and pre-packaged tea bags.
What Are Chaga Key Benefits to Human Health + Wellness?
Chaga medicinal mushrooms offer an incredible array of benefits, ranging from enhanced immune response to counteracting the aging process to improved vital organ function and much, much more! Here’s a brief overview cover a bit of how Chaga helps support human health and wellness.
Supports Immune Response
Cytokines are immune system proteins that help stimulate white blood cell production. And white blood cells are your immune system’s first line of defense against a variety of invasive harmful things. Chaga is believed to regulate cytokines’ production, which helps both battle attacks from invading cells and generally improves your immune system’s overall function.
Slows the Aging Process
Harmful cells known as free radicals contribute to the oxidative stress that causes wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, and graying hair.
Antioxidants are known to battle free radicals. And Chaga, known as a Superfood, is one of the richest antioxidant food sources. In turn, Chaga’s wealth of antioxidants can help slow, and in some cases, even reverse outward signs of aging.
Supports Healthy Blood Sugar Levels
Healthy blood sugar levels help reduce stress on the pancreas, which is your body’s insulin-producing organ. Chaga contains trace amounts of naturally occurring iodine and is a rich source of polysaccharides like beta-glucans and polyphenols. And this potent nutritional combination can help support healthy blood sugar levels, which in turn can improve your pancreases’ overall function.
Promotes Healthy Blood Pressure Levels
Oxidative stress is considered a key contributor to high blood pressure. High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and similar cardiovascular conditions. Chaga’s high antioxidant content is credited with promoting healthy blood pressure levels, which can play a role in your overall wellness.
Regulates Health Cholesterol Levels
Antioxidants can help reduce LDL “bad” cholesterol and lower total cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Similarly, antioxidants can help increases HDL “good” cholesterol levels. As a rich source of antioxidants, Chaga is reported to help your body better regulate both bad and good cholesterol levels.
What Benefits Could Chaga Offer to Pets?
Now that we’re clear on what Chaga is and how it can help humans, let’s return to our original question… How can Chaga help pets?
First and foremost, as already noted above, Chaga mushrooms both loaded with antioxidants and provide a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals, beta glucan polysaccharides, polyphenols, organic acids, and other crucial enzymes that help support a broad range of critical bodily functions.
And just as with humans, Chaga’s vital nutritional content can help improve your pet’s health in a number of ways.
Supports Immune System Function
A plentiful source of antioxidants, Chaga mushrooms are often used to enhance the immune response of dogs, cats, and other domesticated pets. Additionally, Chaga is reported to help relieve allergies in dogs and cats with overactive immune systems.
Many also believe Chaga can help ward off harmful invasive particles that contribute to a number of debilitating conditions in a variety of pets.
Improves Digestion
One of Chaga’s earliest uses was to help assuage stomach issues. And many pet owners believe Chaga can also help ease symptoms related to stomach and intestinal issues that frequently plague pets.
Promotes Healthy Blood Sugar Levels
The trace amounts of naturally occurring iodine and high beta-glucan content in Chaga are believed to promote healthy blood sugar levels in humans. And Chaga is assumed to do the same for pets. This has led many pet owners to use Chaga as a natural means to help regular their animal friend’s blood sugar levels.
Increases Energy
Chaga is noted for stimulating the production of protein molecules that help generate energy in humans. This process is believed to work the same in pets and implies Chaga can help pep up your pets. This includes making pets more alert, lively, and responsive in active play.
If Your Pet’s Health + Wellness is a Priority – Chaga Can Help!
Whether you’re looking to help your pet manage a chronic condition, put more “pep” in their step, increase their longevity, or simply improve their overall condition – incorporating Chaga into your pet’s diet is a huge step in the right direction!
Many pet owners who’ve purchased Sayan Chaga products for their creature cohorts have seen them become more alert, more active, and generally happier and more responsive.
Pet owners with arthritic dogs and cats have also reported that Chaga has helped improved their furry friends’ mobility and increased their energy level, making them much more engaged in active play.
All of which is attributed to the immune system support, increased energy level, and improved organ function Chaga helps provide to both humans and pets.
It’s wise to consult your veterinarian for general guidance on supplements and advice on incorporating Chaga into your pet’s diet best. But ultimately, if you’re aiming to improve your pet’s overall health and wellness – Chaga is a great place to start!

Ohohtaek –
Hello, my cat had a total wired extraction surgery. I feel a small lump on the extraction area. How much do I have to feed them because of the tumor?? The cat weighs 3.4 kilograms.
David Vartanian –
Thank you very much for contacting Sayan. Chaga mushroom extract powder would be a good supplement for your cat. Just to let you know – our Chaga extract powder doesn’t contain any alcohol since it is produced by water extraction method only. We have many other clients who use our chaga extract for their pets.
The dosage for cat would be 1/8 tsp of Chaga extract powder per day per 10 kg / 22 lbs
David Vartanian –
We would suggest using the chaga extract powder that is dissolved in any liquid. As for the amount, it should be very small about 20-30 mg (milligrams) per day. Or you can simply brew a tea from chaga tea chunks and give the tea to the squirrel.
